The president of Tyler & Company, Preston Smith is a former Georgia state senator who authored a major statewide civil justice reform bill. Five years before becoming a senator, Preston Smith earned a juris doctorate degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. An avid sports fan, he continues to support the school’s football team.

Georgia has produced several National Football League (NFL) players throughout its history; 36 former University of Georgia Bulldogs played in the NFL in 2016 alone. Below are three of the more prominent players.

1. Todd Gurley: Selected 10th overall by the St. Louis Rams in the 2015 NFL Draft, Gurley scored 10 touchdowns and averaged 85.1 yards rushing per game as a rookie and made the Pro Bowl. The 22-year-old scored 36 rushing touchdowns in three seasons with the Bulldogs.

2. Matt Stafford: The first overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Stafford has played eight seasons as the starting quarterback of the Detroit Lions and recorded 187 career touchdowns. He had 51 touchdowns and 33 interceptions during his three seasons with Georgia.

3. A.J. Green: Regarded as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, Green was selected fourth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. He recorded 2,619 yards receiving and caught 23 touchdown passes in three seasons with Georgia.
