Preston Smith is the president of Tyler & Company in Atlanta. In this position, which he has held since October 2016, he draws on almost two decades of experience in the healthcare industry. Also a former Georgia state senator, Preston Smith served from 2003 to 2011 and was responsible for numerous patient-centered reforms to reduce costs and improve affordable access to quality healthcare. After serving as a senator, he served as an executive at ApolloMD, a leading national healthcare service firm. While there, he served as president of anesthesia and then chief revenue and chief compliance officer.
Preston Smith is an alumnus of the University of Georgia School of Law where he earned a JD in 1998. Prior to his election as senator, he served as a partner at the Cox Byington law firm, where his practice focused on litigation, dispute resolution and counsel to physician practices. Throughout his career, Smith has remained an active community member, serving on the board of directors of DisABILITY Link as well as the Sexual Assault Center of Northwest Georgia. Senator Preston Smith also supports the American Heart Association and is active in his local church. There he regularly teaches a Sunday morning class and also has participated in humanitarian trips to Lima, Peru.
